Happy National Hot Dog Day! 🙂 In honor of today, I am sharing my best homemade hot dog chili recipe!
The best hot dog chili EVER! Click To Tweet
One of my favorite ways to eat a hot dog is with warm, slightly sweet, smokey chili; creamy, cool coleslaw, finely chopped white onion, and yellow mustard. We call this a hot dog “all-the-way” at our house.
Soooooo delicious!

There is only one hot dog as far as I’m concerned and that’s Nathan’s Famous. If you haven’t tried them you simply must!

3 Ingredients
This recipe has 3 simple ingredients and couldn’t be easier to make. Ground beef, ketchup, and chili powder. It makes a nice thick chili that helps hold the slaw on the dog. Why put the slaw on if it’s just going to fall off, right?

All you need is one pound of burger (we used last seasons Elk burger), 1 cup ketchup, and 2 TBS chili powder! Start by browning the burger. You can add a little salt and pepper at this stage if you like.
Simmer For 5-10 Minutes
Add the ketchup and chili powder to the browned meat. Stir until combined and let the mixture simmer on LOW for about 5-10 minutes.

Yum!

Done!
And now, enjoy! Try the best homemade hot dog chili, I am pretty confident you won’t be sorry. However if by the time you’ve read this entire post you just don’t want to put in the time and effort; try the best-canned chili!
