Take a moment to reflect on your daily life. Do you have anything in your life that you find difficult or frustrating? What can you do to simplify these areas of your life?

1. Simplify your life NOW By Creating a routine!

Routines are hands down one of the easiest and most effective ways to simplify your life. Like right now, today! A routine is a plan or a schedule of events that you do daily at a set time. Most of us have routines set in place that we don’t even realize are routines. They just happen to be habits created over time.

Create a routine for an area of your life that you struggle with. It could be that you need a solid nighttime routine because you stay up too late and aren’t getting enough sleep. Or maybe a morning routine would benefit you because you find that you waste a lot of time in the morning.

Here is an example from my own life:

I created a morning routine for myself out of a need to incorporate daily exercise. I could not even find 30 minutes in my day to exercise. With 3 kids, a husband, 3 dogs, and all the things that go along with homemaking there literally was no time. But…

I decided to MAKE time.

Mama, your health matters! MAKE time for it. Click To Tweet

After thinking it through I realized that morning time was going to be my best bet. Wake up and get with it. Literally wake up, get out of bed, get work out clothes on and get on that stationary bike for 30 minutes!

Quick side note about that stationary bike…

I absolutely LOVE my Ativafit stationary bike!! It’s quiet as a mouse. You can have a full-on conversation while riding, watch TV with the family, whatever you want! It’s sturdy, well made, and very reasonably priced! I paid $139 for it on Amazon. The seat is huge and very comfortable. The bike is very compact, especially when folded up. It would work well in an RV or tiny home!

I tried to put a link here to the bike. Unfortunately, Amazon is currently out of stock and they don’t know when they will get more in. 🙁 However, you can check out the Ativafit website HERE!

Okay back to making a routine for yourself.

Now let me just say…I had my doubts that this whole, waking up and jumping right on the bike, would work for me. But I had to figure something out! The thing is, I REALLY like my morning coffee. It makes me a better person. Just ask my kids.

We all had doubts that mama could get up and get on the bike without coffee first. The sign says so.

However, it has been working out fantastic for me!! This has been my morning routine for over two months now and it sure has simplified my mornings.

2. Write it down!

It might sound silly but seriously, WRITE IT DOWN. Get that routine out of your head and on paper. When you are starting a new routine, it’s easier to remember what you have to next when you have it written down. Starting new habits isn’t easy but this step will help you succeed!

Simplify your life now by giving yourself less to think about. Save that precious brain power for important decisions that you have to make daily. Don’t waste it on trivial things.

You can tape it up in an inconspicuous place and just refer to it if you forget what you’re supposed to do next.

3. Clean out your car and stock it with travel necessities!

We spend a lot of time in our cars. Even if we didn’t, it’s always nice to be in a clean space. Anytime things are tidy our lives are simpler.

Make yourself a little travel kit with necessities to keep in your car. Things like: hand sanitizer, chapstick, snacks, water, travel blanket, sunscreen, first aid kit, etc. Whatever you deem a travel necessity should go in your travel kit.

You won’t have to worry about hitting the drive-thru for a snack or drink! A basic tool kit is a good idea to keep in the car as well.

4. Simplify spring cleaning with my 30-day 30-task spring cleaning checklist!

Spring cleaning can become completely overwhelming if you let it. There are so many little things that have to be done. I have created a checklist to simplify your spring cleaning! Do one simple task a day for thirty days.

One task a day is sooooo much better than trying to cram a bunch of things into a couple of days. You don’t even have to think about what to do next. Just look at your list. Below you can print your spring cleaning checklist now! ♥

5. Clean out your fridge and pantry. Throw out any expired items.

Ugh! When there are expired items in the fridge or leftovers that have gone bad (rarely happens in my household) it makes it hard to plan future meals. Let alone make a grocery list. You need to know what you have and what you need.

Plus a dirty fridge is just, ick!

6. Clean up your smartphone!

Yes. Do that!

Our smartphones are baby computers and if not treated well will give us grief. Upload all your photos to an online photo printing/storage site. Shutterfly is fantastic! They’re having some great Mother’s Day sales as well as a ton of freebies for registering.

Get rid of any old apps you aren’t using.

Save any videos you have to your computer and burn a DVD of them!

7. Clean up your emails!

Oh Goodness. This task can be daunting. Most people have an asinine amount of emails in their inboxes. Unsubscribing from email lists that you are no longer interested in is a great start!

Maybe better than cleaning them up would be to train yourself to check email every day and immediately delete anything that is trash. And place important emails in email files.

I know there are people out there who are on top of their email. If that’s you…teach me!

8. De-clutter your bedside table!

Is your bedside table cluttered? Does it have only the things you need to ensure a restful night’s sleep? Those things are going to look different for everyone. We are all different. Thank God right?! I mean that’s what keeps things interesting!

Personally, all I need is a lamp, my phone charging (that’s my alarm clock), my water bottle filled to the top, essential oil diffuser, and chapstick.

Just the basics on the nightstand. ♥

9. Simplify your laundry by doing 1 load every morning!

YES! Do this! I promise you’ll never go back.

Does anyone else have that ridiculous habit of not folding and putting away the clothes right after they come out of the dryer? Well, just so you know, you’re not alone! As a homemaker, there is so much distraction with ALL THE THINGS that have to get done. Plus there is that whole out of sight, out of mind thing that happens when I dump the clothes on the bed with good intentions. Doing one load a day has helped me tremendously!

BONUS TIP: Fold the clothes directly from the dryer into a basket. By not transferring the clean clothes to another location to fold you avoid the “out of sight, out of mind” dilemma!

10. Clean out your medicine cabinet!

Staying on top of things like the fridge and medicine cabinet is pretty important. Spoiled food and expired medicine are just no good!

Get rid of any unnecessary clutter. FYI Your pharmacist can safely dispose of any expired or unused medications.

11. Quit something! Just say “no”.

Have you overextended yourself with too many commitments? You know, my daddy didn’t raise a quitter. Sometimes, it’s okay to quit. Rarely. But you know what I mean.

How about a bad habit?

Look we all have some type of bad habit. Things that are not healthy for our bodies and even our minds. QUIT THAT!

Pick one thing that you do that you know is bad for your health. Whatever that thing is you can stop it! If you struggle to do it on your own. Reach out for help. Research how to quit a bad habit.

And that is just the dad gummed truth!

12. Detox social media!

Social media can be toxic. There is no doubt about that. If there are any social media accounts you’re following that bring you down or cause anxiety and depression, UNFOLLOW THEM NOW! You don’t need that in your life. ♥ Only keep the accounts and people that lift your spirits.

While we’re on the subject, check out my social accounts! I try my best to share uplifting things but at the same time this mama is real, and you will see the reality of this homemaker’s life. Good or bad. With that said you’re likely to get a laugh or two at my expense.
