Where Racism Comes From, And How to Stop it! Would you willingly turn loose a rattlesnake in your home? Of course not! Yet people right now all over the world are doing it. They’re allowing a deadly spiritual serpent to curl up on their couches, eat at the dinner table, fellowship with their families, sleep in their beds, and feed their minds lies. They have made themselves extremely vulnerable to a demonic enemy whose sole purpose is to kill, steal, and destroy. This demonic enemy’s strategy is to divide and conquer, and it is working. You’d have to be living under a rock to not see it.

People know something is there and that something is wrong, but most of them have no clue as to why it’s all happening.

Where racism comes from

I feel like it’s important to say that the purpose of this article is not to magnify the works of the devil. However, as Christians, we need to be properly equipped! We need to be fully aware of his tactics. Everything isn’t unicorns and rainbows and we HAVE TO STOP putting our heads in the sand.

There is IN FACT an enemy of the entire human race who wants nothing more than to destroy every last one of us. Click To Tweet

Where racism comes from and what is racism?

Racism is when people of one race or ethnicity rise up in hate against another. You won’t find the word racism in the bible. The Scriptures don’t use it because to God, racism isn’t a thing— it’s a spirit. It’s the spirit of division.  It’s a work of the devil himself, and the demons he sends out to do his divisionary work. In contrast, God’s work is peace, unity, harmony, and joy (John 14:27; Romans 14:17).

Racism is most definitely alive and well. It has been around since the beginning when Adam and Eve sinned.

A couple of bites is all took and all hell broke loose! Click To Tweet

That first sin ushered in the enemy and all his cohorts. He has evil spirits of all kinds who have specific jobs.

How Does a Spirit of Division Work?

Now that we know a spirit of division is behind racism, we need to know what tactics are used. That way we can be fully equipped to fight!

Satan uses the spirit of division to magnify differences in us which causes envy and strife. Any difference can be used to divide. From skin color and politics to a difference in food tastes and clothing style. He can use it all to divide people.

If we let him!

“For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and EVERY EVIL WORK.”  James 3:16. Every…evil…work. Think about that. Envy, strife, bickering, competition, rivalry, conflict, antagonism…those things seem small. But according to the bible, where those things are there is EVERY EVIL WORK.

No one in their right mind wants that in their home!

Side note,

I recently came across an article about avoiding strife and living in peace. The author gave 5 practical tips for avoiding strife. READ THAT HERE! It is a great read. ♥

8 Ways to Stop the Spirit of Racism.

The first thing you need to understand is that as a believer YOU HAVE POWER through the blood of Jesus!

Make no mistake racism CAN be stopped and utterly destroyed! We have been given POWER through Jesus Christ over ALL the power of the enemy. How’s that for some GOOD NEWS?!

Heads up, fear will stifle your power.

Fear is Not From God & There is No Such Thing as “Healthy Fear”.

2. You Must Understand There Are Only Two Races

God never wanted America to be a place where we’re all divided up and fighting one another. His purpose for this land was for it to be a place where all cultures and people of different backgrounds could worship him FREELY, together! He wanted a place where people weren’t divided into all kinds of  “races.”

Where racism comes from

As far as God almighty is concerned, there are only two races on earth. Those who have chosen to be in his family and those who haven’t. That is the only division there ought to be.

He has never and will never divide people up based on skin color, geographical location, money, clothing, or culture. That’s a people thing. People started listening to the devil which opened up a door for him to wreak havoc.

3. Kill it at The Root.

Our legislatures have tried to fix the prejudice problem by passing “integration” laws. Nothing wrong with these laws so far as they go. However, these laws have clearly never solved the problem. Racial strife continues to break out.

People are fighting because prejudice is not the “root” of the problem. Prejudice is the “result.” Prejudice being the leaves on a tree and a spirit of division being the roots of the tree.

Forcing people together doesn’t solve the problem. They can hate each other sitting right next to each other just the same as they can across town from one another. No amount of money, protests, or laws are going to solve the problem.

Hate is hate and no law is going to stop it. Click To Tweet

Until the spirit of division is dealt with, racism will still be there.

4. Get God’s Wisdom.

It can be tempting to let yourself be drawn into the fighting. Especially if some of the nastiness, ugly words, and hateful actions are directed toward us. If you get sucked into that you become part of the problem rather than the solution.

So how do I not fall into that temptation?

Seek his wisdom!

Principal meaning the MOST IMPORTANT.

Get his wisdom specifically regarding the things that come out of your mouth! We need to be constantly aware of what we are saying. Even just repeating things you hear (or think) can allow that divisive spirit to work.

5. Walk in Love.

How?

Read 1 Corinthians 13. The entire chapter tells us how to love. He didn’t say do it and not tell us how!

Did you know that acting in love fulfills the entire law of God?

Where racism comes from

If you act in love and not based on your feelings or thoughts, the spirit of racism (the spirit of division) will never be able to deceive you. When you understand the truth about races;  learn how to kill the root of racism; and use wisdom, love, perspective, and forgiveness you will be ready to stand against this divisive spirit.

6. Put Yourself in Someone Else’s Shoes.

We have allowed this spirit of division to operate too long. There are too many gaps and we have to find a way to bridge those gaps. We have to care enough to put ourselves in someone else’s shoes in order to understand how he thinks.

If we understand how people of other skin colors, ethnicities, and cultures think, we can prevent accidentally hurting them. It happens. And white people are not the only people to make these mistakes. Of course. No matter what color skin you have, everyone can be offensive at times.

We shouldn't be so hard on each other. Click To Tweet

When someone says something insensitive, choose to believe that person wasn’t intentionally trying to hurt you. In the church especially it is safe to assume because no Christian, no matter how they were raised, can truly be a racist at heart.

The bait of satan is an offense. Don’t take the bait!

7. Forgive.

You simply must. It’s not an option. It’s not about feelings, it’s an act of obedience.

Unforgiveness blocks your power in Jesus. Stopping racism is hopeless without forgiveness.

Period.

8. We Have to Come Together in Agreement.

The spirit of division has a target on the backs of Christians. He is trying to split up churches and separate believers because he knows,

Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand” (Matthew 12:25). Click To Tweet

Where racism comes from

As Americans, we need to be constantly aware of this danger. After all, our nation was founded on spiritual unity. Of course, there are going to be disagreements but we don’t have to let them turn to hate.

Matthew 18:19 says, “I also tell you this: If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you.”

We can disagree and still live in harmony!

We can agree to disagree. Click To Tweet

See that?

By putting into practice these 8 things to stop racism and bind that spirit of division, you are doing your part to end racism in this country! Accept nothing less than unity in your home, your church, and your country!

Be blessed!
